My Everyday Makeup Routine

When I was in high school makeup was my 'thing.' I would procrastinate by doing my makeup, only to walk to the dining room of the boarding house looking like I was ready to walk down the isle of my dream pop-punk wedding to Pete Wentz (see below.)

Now days, you can see I tend to go for a more... 'natural,' look.

However, now I can't STAND doing my make up. I despise it. I hate the way my eyes look when I wear eye shadow and my post-pubescent skin is bone dry, making any attempt at a Kylie-esq matte moment age me by about 10 years. Not cool.

At the same time, I'm not one to go without makeup... I have super clear skin however I'm really embarrassed about my red cheeks (I don't even know why, it's just always been a concern for me!) So here, my friends, is my every day makeup routine...

1. Lush, Breath of Fresh Air

Before I start doing my makeup and immediately once I've finished, I always spritz my face with this bad boy. It's made with sea-water, aloe vera gel, seaweed and rosewater. Basically it's a quick shot of sebum balancing moisture for your skin. Delish.

2. Bare Minerals, Complexion Rescue

If you haven't tried a tinted moisturiser, you need one in your life ASAP. This keeps my dry skin looking dewy all day while lightly masking my red cheeks. Added bonus, it's SPF-30 which my beauty therapist friend tells me is a must. I use the shade Vanilla 2.

3. Lush, Feeling Younger

DADDY! This is a winner for dry skin. I am honestly glowing to the gods when I use this as a highlighter however it's strangely... natural? It's also packed full of jojoba and almond oil so once again, you're going to be hydrated all day. No one likes a flaky moment.

4. Australis, Fresh & Flawless Pressed Powder

I use hardly any of this, just a quick brush over to set my skin. It's not my favourite but I'm waiting to finish it before I buy a translucent powder.

5. Maybelline, Lash Sensation

Mm, take it or leave it. She's a mascara for god sake. Previously I was using Benefit's 'They're Real!' but have stopped until they get on the cruelty free bandwagon... Also it's bloody expensive.
Side Note: YES, I know Maybelline isn't cruelty free either. Baby steps, baby steps.

6. Anastasia Beverly Hills, Tinted Brow Gel

Once again, she's just a brow gel. I've had her for 3 years. Should probably get another because that's kinda gross.

7. Dermal, Ultra-Moisturising Lip Balm

I have chronic dry lips and have done since I was little. This bad boy changed that. I have one in each of my hand bags, beside my bed and on my dressing table. Game changer.

And then I'm ready to walk out the door without being a tired, flaky mess!

Hopefully this can help you to do the same!
